There's something about the upheaval of a global pandemic that calls for personal reinvention. What better time than lockdown to try out a new look? For most of us, the appeal is—if it doesn't turn out well—that only our Zoom coworkers and grocery store clerk will see us. But cookbook author and all-around cool mom Ayesha Curry went ahead and shared her new blonde look with the world, prompting tons of heart-eye comments and a little backlash too.
Curry posted a Boomerang of her posing in a vehicle to her Instagram on Sunday with the caption, "Mom goes blonde (temporarily)." Her husband, NBA All-Star Steph Curry, is there in the background showing his approval of her newly platinum coif.
Ayesha, the host of the ABC cooking competition series Family Food Fight, didn't say what prompted the major hair change. But her celeb friends from Ciara to Gabrielle Union showed their love for the temporary blonde with their responses.
However, not every comment under the post is a positive one, with several followers telling Curry that she doesn't look like herself.
Her husband addressed those critics with a lighthearted comment of his own: "You beautiful baby. And don't you let anybody tell you differently ok? I mean it. There's just a bunch of meanies out there and I don't like it. I don't like it one bit. Do you boo boo. P.S. If the wig falls off I won't tell anybody, I promise. Pinky promise. It be hilarious though, but won't anybody know. Wait- that's been you in this bed the whole time??? I ain't even know. Now I'm tripping 👀😂"
