Celebs In Strapless Bras
The strapless bra (believe it or not) was actually the first kind of bra ever invented. It was invented in ancient Rome and was originally referred to as the strophium or mamillare. The strophium was a very simple kind of undergarment; it was a single piece of fabric made for women to band around the breasts. In earlier years, the Romans actually (believe it or not, again) considered big breasts to be unflattering or a sign of aging, so women wore their “strapless bras” to tightly secure their assets and prevent from having sagging breasts.
And yes, you bet the ancient bra came in all shapes and sizes and was readily purchased from any departmental store.
Of course, today, the undergarment has gone from being worn for practical purposes to being worn for trendy purposes.
That’s right, the strapless bra has evolved into quite the look! (Just swipe through the gallery and see for yourselves!)
