“Country is the great love of my life – we’ve had our breakups, but it’s something I’ve always known I would love forever,” says Kate Hasting, one the founding members of Hasting & Co. The band – featuring founding member Josh Beale – is fast becoming one of the biggest names in Nashville. After working within the Music City’s songwriting rules, the band decided to rebrand themselves as “Nash Trash” – maintaining the honesty and craftsmanship of country music songwriting, but being unafraid to get trashy, gritty and real.
Kate released her debut self-titled album in 2010, and the sophomore Playing With Fire a year later. Around that time, she moved down to Nashville, conneted with Josh, and began honing on their sound. Their debut EP, Country Music, was released in 2013. They continued to build a buzz with singles “Just Friends,” “Country Music(reprise)” and “Behind the Bleachers.” In 2017, they dropped the Can’t Get Enough EP. After they both suffered personal family tragedies in 2018-19, they released a cathartic track, “Brunch Drunk,” in October 2019.
Hasting & Co. Are Ready To Get ‘Brunch Drunk’
Hastin & Co. — Kate Hasting and Josh Beale — released ‘Brunch Drunk’ in October 2019. It was a joyous song about keeping the buzz going after a Saturday night of partying.

“We’re really, really hyper-focused on the craftsmanship of the Nashville writing style,” Kate Hasting told HollywoodLife. “Country music writing, it’s such a formulaic way of writing, and there are rules you have to follow to be competitive. But at the same time we both grew up on farms, we’re both trashy. I am not afraid to wear my nightgown to lunch. I really don’t care what people think of me.”
Hasting & Co. Are Classy And Sassy
“I think country music has also always kind of had the finger on the pulse of — country music’s gone worldwide at this point,” Josh Beale told HollywoodLife. “It’s becoming bigger in the UK and Australia, but it’s always been a very uniquely American genre. And I feel like it’s always had its finger on the pulse of where America was. And it’s always been changing just like everything else.”
Nash Trash Never Looked So Good
“We like to call our brand of country Nash Trash,” Kate Hasting told HollywoodLife. “I think it ultimately again comes back to that idea of when we say Nash Trash, the focus is on the Nash. Nashville has such a way of crafting a song. And so I think if you’re honest to that and you’re really, really, really pushing yourself to write within these boundaries that are country music, wouldn’t you say that in its own you can almost write anything you want as long as you figure out how to write it within those four walls.
Hasting & Co. On The Road
“I think it’s important to write the sad songs, the deep songs, but I think it’s just as important, and America is continually saying, ‘We want the fun song,'” Kate told HollywoodLife upon the release of their song, “Brunch Drunk.’
