Team Rubicon
On Saturday evening, in the latest edition of WME partner Richard Weitz and his daughter Demi’s RW Quarantunes Series, which brings together top names in entertainment to host private Zoom fundraisers for various COVID-19 front line initiatives, Goldman Sachs Wealth Management made an initial $100,000 donation to Team Rubicon to support their efforts combating the current global pandemic and invited members of Team Rubicon to watch the fundraiser. After the first performance, where Andra Day sang a powerful rendition of her hit song “Rise Up,” Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon made an additional $50,000 donation on behalf of the firm. All in, by the evenings end, Goldman Sachs Wealth Management donated over $150,000 to Team Rubicon.
This RW Quarantunes was part of an ongoing series Weitz and his daughter launched five weeks ago. The series has featured performances by John Legend, Andra Day, Rob Thomas, John Rzeznik, Emeli Sande, Richard Marx, Rick Springfield, Babyface, Tom Higgenson from Plain White T’s, Tony Hadley from Spandau Ballet, Stephan Jenkins from Third Eye Blind, Lily Moore and more as well as appearances from LL Cool J, Guy Fieri, Rev Run, Clive Davis, Johnny Galecki, Jimmy Jam, Tyler Cameron from The Bachelor, Rodney Jerkins, Rick Astley and a special address from Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon and Team Rubicon CEO and co-founder Jake Wood.
Goldman Sachs also invited their Wealth Management clients to take part in the fundraiser and raise additional funds for Team Rubicon, an organization that serves communities by mobilizing veterans to continue their service, leveraging their skills and experience to help people prepare, respond and recover from disasters and humanitarian crises. Given the current global pandemic, Team Rubicon has adapted its capabilities to join the frontlines of COVID-19 to support at-risk populations through providing medical service, emergency food assistance and planning and logistics support on the ground.
As part of the fundraiser, beyond the more than $150,000 Goldman Sachs Wealth Management donated to Team Rubicon, they also committed to matching a number of employee contributions. Goldman Sachs Wealth Management employees, clients and other Zoom participants donated more than $300,000, raising $500,000 and counting to support Team Rubicon’s efforts fighting COVID-19.
