At some point during the pandemic, Mad Men alum January Jones started sharing photos of herself in bikinis, because why not? And, unlike many celebrities whose stripped-down snaps are seriously trying hard to be sexy, the 42-year-old actor opted to inject some humor into hers, adding hilariously snarky captions, sometimes even a bit self-deprecating. However, one publication is now claiming that there is more to Jones' bikini posts on social media than meets the eye. According to The National Enquirer, her "friends" believe the photos are all part of her "desperate cry for attention" and are very concerned about her. Instead of lashing out and defending herself when the tabloid asked her for a comment, Jones decided to take another approach—sharing not only the letter she received from the publication but fighting bikini fire with bikini fire. The National Enquirer asked Jones to comment on the fact that she "has worried friends" with her "attention-grabbing bikini pictures."
On Tuesday, the Mad Men star shared an email she received by The National Enquirer, asking if she had a comment for their forthcoming story, sourcing her anonymous "friends," who are concerned about her behavior.
"To Whom It May Concern: The National Enquirer is preparing to publish a story which reports January Jones has worried friends with her series of attention-grabbing bikini pictures and social media posts," the note read. "Sources claim her content smacks of a 'desperate cry for attention' and note how her acting work appears to have dried up before then pandemic took hold. If you have a statement or wish to comment please provide it before 5 pm ET, Wednesday, December 9, 2020, directly to this email."
"They've discovered my secret," she captioned the image of the email. "Consider this my public apology to my 'friends.'" Instead of getting mad, Jones opted to have a little fun with the upcoming story.
So, she posted the perfect clapback: another bikini photo!
Jones followed up the screenshot of the email with another striped down selfie, posing in a pink bikini with a huge smile splashed across her face. "Had to do it. #DESPERATE," she captioned it.
And Chrissy Teigen hilariously joked that she was one of the "worried" friends.
Chrissy Teigen, no stranger to the wrath of trolls, felt the need to make a "confession," adding a hilarious comment to Jones' post. "It was me. I'm worried !!!!!!!" she joked, which made Jones crack up. And for more on Teigen, check out Chrissy Teigen Reveals Why She Won't "Clap Back" on Social Media Anymore.
And other celebrities weighed in, too.
Jones' friend Jaime King had her own thoughts. "Hahaha!!!! Oh my God Jan. What are they going to say next, that aliens have invaded your timeline?"
Jones' Mad Men daughter, Kiernen Shipka, expressed her own concern. "It worries me how hot you are, yes," she wrote.
And, her ex, former Bachelor Nick Viall also weighed in. "Sounds like they are mad you're doing Instagram right," he wrote. And for more hilarious Hollywood reports, check out 50 Totally Absurd Celeb Rumors That Some People Really Believe.
