Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach became Miss Universe in 2015 in a ceremony that will go down in history as one of the most stunning crownings of all time. But on January 30 2017, it was Miss France Iris Mittenaere who won the title of the crown and Pia was there to be apart of the coronation night of the Miss Universe pageant.
Pia is one of the four Filipinas to have won the Miss Universe and since her crowning, has become a celebrated model, actress, and HIV/AIDS awareness advocate as well as an advocate for gender equality.

At the end of the Miss Universe pagaent, host Steve Harvey mistakenly announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez as the winner over Pia. However, moments after after Ariadna’s crowning, Steve returned to the stage and admitted t he had misread the results and that Pia was true Miss Universe 2015. Paulina Vega (Miss Universe 2014) had to remove the crown from Ariadna’s head to crown the rightful winner.
