Paul Rudd Reveals the Secret to His Ageless Appearance

When Paul Rudd took to the stage at the Academy Awards last month, all anyone could talk about was the fact that the 49-year-old man looks pretty much exactly the same as he did when he first stole our hearts in the 1995 film Clueless.

How is it possible that Paul Rudd hasn't aged since 'Clueless'?

And given that Rudd has never presented himself as a fitness buff or a healthy eating guru, everyone wondered how it was humanly possible that he's maintained the same boyish good looks well into middle age. Was it some sort of incredible skin-care routine? Did he, like Mark Wahlberg, secretly wake up at  3am every morning to work out? Or could it be something more dark and mystical?

Paul Rudd, what dark bargain have you cut with the Gods of Time.

Well, over the weekend, the cast of Clueless reunited at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo to celebrate the film's 24-year-anniversary, where he was pressed to reveal the secret behind his ageless appearance. As usual, Rudd gave a characteristically demure response.

"I'm 80 years old on the inside," Paul said, pointing to his chest. "In here, pure darkness. And a little moisturizer."

OK, so he's a vampire.

Seriously though, Paul Rudd's been questioned about his apparent immortality before, and the only time he's given a direct answer is when he was training for his role in the 2015 movie Ant-Man.

At the time, he told Variety that he "took the Chris Pratt approach to training for an action movie. Eliminate anything fun for a year and then you can play a hero." He elaborated to People, saying he's "never exercised harder than this for an extended amount of time," and that his regime included "flips and rolls and all that kind of stuff." But while he said that his "day was centered around fitness and health," he also admitted that this was "kind of a first" for him. And while he went a whole year without alcohol or carbs, he said that this too was a diet that was "almost kind of impossible to sustain."

All of which makes it seem like his ultra-healthy regime was a one-year-wonder purely for the movie role.

"I was going to be held accountable for it, and there was a reason for doing it," he said. "I wasn't just randomly doing this kind of arbitrarily, which would have made it a lot harder."

So what gives? I propose a new theory. For an A-list celebrity, Rudd has led a surprisingly scandal-less existence, and he's known as possibly being the nicest guy in Hollywood. He's also got no social media presence whatsoever. So perhaps when it comes to anti-aging, the real secret isn't laying off the sweets as much as it is cutting out all the possible drama from your life?

It's either that or he's a vampire. And if that's the case, it would definitely make our list of the 50 Crazy Celebrity Facts You Won't Believe Are True.
