They're moving too fast to appreciate life's small moments. Sure, they could just be in a bad mood, but astrologers say their horoscope could also be a reason why these people are so melancholy. Keep reading to find out the unhappiest zodiac signs, from slightly sad to miserably mopey.

6 Pisces
It's hard to be happy when you're always escaping reality. Pisces often miss things, and they might be excluded from time to time because they're always trapped inside their heads.
Tara Bennet, astrologer and spiritual coach at Mediumchat, notes that they do find joy in their imagination, but it's not quite enough. "In life, they're prone to martyrdom," she says. "They'll sacrifice themselves for the good of others but then cry victim."
They can't seem to escape this path to sorrow even if it's emotionally unhealthy. And while they might seem happy for short bursts, they're generally more down than most.
5 Capricorn
Capricorns have high standards and expectations for everyone including themselves. But that need to be successful can be a thief of joy.
On one hand, this laser-focused determination can be a good thing, but on the other, it can cause a lot of unhappiness when nothing ever seems good enough, Lauren DeGolia, clarity consultant and astrologer at Fresh Start Registry, tells Best Life.
These grounded earth signs also hardly ever take risks because they're too scared to fail. Always playing it safe definitely makes them miss out on exciting and happy things.

4 Virgo
Like Capricorn, Virgo is an earth sign that also has unrealistic standards for themselves—they are the perfectionists of the zodiac, after all. Because of this, they are never truly happy.
"With the bar being so high, no matter what they do or how hard they work, it could always have been better," says Bennet.
With no room for messiness or spontaneity in their life, the lack of joy is real.
3 Cancer
Cancer is selfless, always putting other people first. "Imagine how it would feel to be constantly giving and never receiving… pretty exhausting and discouraging," says DeGolia.
She explains that Cancer is hardwired into thinking that they have to be the glue that holds everyone else together. There is a lot of pressure that comes with that role, which can leave them feeling unhappy and unsatisfied.
And when they feel this way, these crabs retreat into their shells, especially when they've been hurt.

2 Scorpio
"Scorpios are the most intense sign of the zodiac and feeling so intensely leads to unhappiness," says Bennet. If they're hurt, that wound goes deep, especially if they were betrayed by someone close to them.
These emotional water signs are closed off, but they want to be loved just as much as any other sign. They do have a tendency to hold on to things for too long and which essentially draws out their own misery.
"Scorpios are level experts at absorbing other people's 'bad vibes' [even] if they aren't aware of it," says DeGolia. "This can leave them shackled with dense energy that likely doesn't belong to them and causes a tidal wave of unhappiness."
1 Aries
Aries is always going after what they want. If they don't get that, their vibe turns into that of a petulant child—and hey, they are the firstborns of the zodiac.
They get too caught up in the end result as opposed to the journey, which ultimately makes them the unhappiest zodiac sign, says DeGolia, who adds that their ego doesn't help either.
These fire signs are always on the go, so slowing down to enjoy life's little pleasures isn't necessarily on their mind. Don't be surprised if they're constantly frowning or scowling because smiles are rare for them.
